Carrefour - The European Quilt Show

Good morning! If you aren't familiar with the European Patchwork Meeting it is a lovely quilt show in the Alsace region of France . The show is spread out over 5 villages in the north of France.
The American Amish have it's roots in this area! It began in the late 17th century with Jakob Ammann and his followers in the Alsace/Swiss region before Amish communities eventually became so strongly associated with North America.
The international quilt museum had a lovely display with challenge quilts. It was called "Amish Reimagined"

I'm not sharing all of the "reimagined" versions.

Below is a special exhibit called
Hungarian Blue Legacy.

It was hard to capture photos, but was truly amazing exhibit!

Couldn't help but take a few photos of the stained glass windows!

Next up- modern quilts in an amazing OLD OLD church!
Les Textilo-Créatives

So much more than quilts to see. If you ever get an opportunity to attend I recommend it.

That's it for today. I think I'm finally over the jet lag hump!

Carrefour - The European Quilt Show

Down to just about 2 months before the amazing trip to Europe and  this quilt show!

Among the world’s top 3 textile arts events, the European Patchwork Meeting offers a wide variety of textile artworks every year from patchwork to embroidery, mixed media, dyeing, crochet and lace: all forms of textile art come together for 4 days of frenzy.

Considered as the cradle of the Amish community, the villages of the Val d’Argent (Alsace) open their most beautiful venues and welcome an unforgettable festival of colors and materials, with each year more than 30 exhibitions of international artists.

The shopping area with more than 4,500 square meters of specialized booths full of supplies, new ideas, and materials presents the latest trends and products from the thread world. And to put the artists’ techniques into practice, there’s nothing better than the workshops and seminars offered each year by renowned teachers.

Over 1.000 works of art, 1 shopping area and more than 20 classes: the European Patchwork Meeting is the annual meeting for all thread lovers.

The quilt show is held in quaint villages!

Will you be there?

The Alsace region in France is the only place in France we will be. (All my prayers for the horrific fire in France!) We are flying into Basel and after the quilt show we will take the train to Germany!
It should be amazing!
Climbed a mountain last week... This photo shows the "youngsters" on the plateau before hitting the big uphill to South Sister.

It was tough, but we made it! The summit is the 3rd highest peak in Oregon at 10, 358'

Fires all around us in Oregon. Hopefully we will start managing our forests better while we still have them! At this point we are safe and do not see any big storms in the forecast. Praying for everyone on the front line of these fires, including farmers and ranchers!

Love to you all

More European Patchwork

A family of Stars by Jaques Legret. Stars dating from 1870-2013 alongside quilts from his collection. (Amish and Mennonite)
Many of these were for sale.

I actually didn't spend much time with the vendors. We browsed through but didn't see anything "new" or especially "European" that I had to have.

Quiltmania
We went for lunch and browsed the list of vendors and saw that May Koval was the only ONE from USA so we made sure to go back and say hello. Rene and I both met Mary and her husband at Russian teahouse get together in NYC in 2011 for the Infinite Variety Quilt exhibit. It was nice to see her again.

Before I forget......
remember this box of fabric samples I won from Cyndi at Busy Thimble? I pakaged them up and brought them all the way to France with me, along with some other goodies from my sewing room for Cecile, Cristelle and Corrine. I hope they will have a lot of fun with them.

I'm having a heck of a time cathcing up on blog reading, so please know that I am reading, just not commenting much at this time.

Have a fantastic weekend! I'm running a half marathon and will be glad when I am not training any longer.

(((Hugs)))
