Hey Look! I did manage to get my top put together! I eliminated 2 rows and am planning on adding a border. Gotta stay flexible!
I think I'm going to use this and will make the top and bottom border a little wider since this quilt is "almost" square. That is kind of annoying to me.
I saw this on the Quilt Index and thought it was such an unusual and fun setting- this was my inspiration.

Here is my other one I finished this year.
I'm going to need to get busy and get some backing made!

We had a quick overnight getaway on the John Day River.
So happy I brought the binoculars as we saw many California Bighorn sheep! That was really exciting.
Small town courthouse on our way home.
I'm heading to Houston on Wednesday. If I don't post, don't worry! I'm so excited to be going and not working!!
Please add your link!
I love both of them. I like the dark border you chose for the first one. I agree with you. Square quilts bother me a bit too. I also like the cheddar accents on the other one. I only got one top put together. I will try to link it today if possible.
ReplyDeleteHave fun in Houston. I just live in the Houston area. I have only missed a couple of shows in the last 40 years! Sadly, I won't be going to this one. Have fun for me too!
I love your two quilts and have so enjoyed this project! You dislike square quilts? Why? I always am adjusting my quilts to be square, my preference.
ReplyDeleteAs I mentioned, I have a few ''commissioned'' projects I must focus on, so my Blue Baskets have not been worked on, too bad. Maybe you can do an update Linky for Laggards in, like, March? ;-)
Love the zig zag!
ReplyDeleteBoth quilts are really pretty, but that top zig-zag design is especially striking.
ReplyDeleteI love your zig zag setting. Quite unusual. I'm surprised you don't like square quilts. I love square quilts as they usually fit my Queen size bed well. I try and make them at least 85" square or more.
ReplyDeleteLove the zigzag setting and that fabric will be a beautiful addition to finish off!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting this stringalong challenge! I love your two finished tops, though the rail blocks with that cheddar really tugs at my heart.
ReplyDeleteLove your quilt! at other times of year at John Day river, along the Columbia River, one can see the pigmy rabbits that are rare to find, peeking out of the bushes. If they are still there. That is the only place I've seen them. I love seeing the big horn sheep along there as well. So glad they were brought back!
ReplyDeleteI really like your string quilts--especially the one with the cheddar setting triangles.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful views--and I love the old courthouse.
I recognize some of the prints you used in your string blocks. Are they all pieces from making your own quilts?
ReplyDeleteLove the scrappy strings in the lightning pattern. Wonderful looking!:)
ReplyDeleteLOVE 'dem strings!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat string quilts! I haven't had any time to work on mine this month, so it will have to wait. I love your courthouse photo! I often take pictures of old courthouses and hope to put them in a photo book someday. I used to work in a courthouse, but it wasn't a pretty one at all. :-(
