String Quilt Number 2!!

Last years was our stringalong adn I have them both completed! Whoop!Whoop!

Thankfully Diane's schedule was open and what these quilts needed were all over patterns.

BasketWeave 2020 Quilt #2

Binding and label is on and sewn!

It is such a busy quilt, Diane and I decided an allover pattern would work great.

Here's the backing I came up with.

The binding looks great with the cheddar!

Porter likes to come upstairs when I'm sewing but coming back down is a little harder with his age, He was barking at me to come up and help!!

More training hikes! This was a steep one- Gray Butte summit at 5108' elevation.

We had a bit of snow overnight with wind and cold temps! It has been surprisingly mild until the last few days.

Stringin' on a Friday!

Actually I'm done stringin'!! I eliminated 2 rows from my original size and added a border. This was copied from an unusual setting that I saw on quiltindex.org

The blocks finish at 4". I really could have made them 6" and been perfectly fine.

Look at this beautiful day we had yesterday!

Because I will be trekking in Peru this spring I need to keep moving as much as possible! I'm not super excited for the forecast of snow next week, so I'll keep getting out and exercising as much as possible until then.

Our high was only 43 today, but it was such a lovely day!!

Make it a terrific weekend, friends!!

Stringalong Month 10 and Finale Linky Party

Hey Look! I did manage to get my top put together! I eliminated 2 rows and am planning on adding a border. Gotta stay flexible!

I think I'm going to use this and will make the top and bottom border a little wider since this quilt is "almost" square. That is kind of annoying to me.

I saw this on the Quilt Index and thought it was such an unusual and fun setting- this was my inspiration.

We had a quick overnight getaway on the John Day River.

So happy I brought the binoculars as we saw many California Bighorn sheep! That was really exciting.

Humble Quilts Stringalong MOnth 9

I thought I had a solid plan to sew 5 string blocks a day until I had the 100+ blocks complete. Well, I have 90 more to make! Here's a lovely stack of 35 or 40 blocks. I'm going to have to work hard to get them done in October.

On another note: Hubby and I made it out camping and hiking.

But woke up to a little snow and colder temps.

We hiked back to the lake to fish.

Porter stayed home with our niece, but Elsa is young and loves to be outdoors!!

And had such a fun day!

And brought home a few trout for dinner!!

Humble Quilts Stringalong Month 8

If you remember from last month I had fallen behind on both string quilts. I decided to race ahead with the basket weave quilt top and then I'll continue on my zig zag for the final months.

My friend gave me a pile of her blocks while cleaning out her sewing room last year. Thank you Linda!! I will not be adding any borders to this one.

It is 61x70" and was difficult to get a photo of the completed top.

The best photo includes Elsa's head and her ball! LOL Does anybody else notice the darker blocks in the upper left of this photograph? I must work with darker strings than my friend Linda.

Not quilty related:

Last weekend there was an airshow in our town. I think this area makes for great photographs! The weather was wonderful!! If you love airshows here's the link- AIR SHOW OF THE CASCADES

Our mid week getaway was to Broken Top in the Three Sisters Wilderness. It was a bit of a redemption hike. Last year we started a loop and couldn't finish- you can do a quick read HERE. We felt like we needed to close that loop. Next year this entire area is going to a permit system so it won't be as easy to jump in a car and head to a trailhead.
