Rise and Shine!

I love seeing this quilt in my house and try and use that mantra Rise and Shine. It has been getting harder and harder, getting to work, keeping a smile on my face.
I had planned a couple of months ago a girls backpacking trip  and since our recent pandemic threw a wrench in that I thought I'd take hubby someplace fairly nearby. We both have needed a mental respite from work and the news.

Well, uh, it is still a bit early for anyplace with fair elevation. But we forged ahead!
This was many parts of the trail.

Some places we had to search for a way to stay on the trail. It was hard to believe this is desert!
We were grateful to find this spot that already had a fire ring built.
Here was were we were headed. Twin Pillars in a wilderness area.

Good night

 Good night Elsa.
Good morning blue sky!

I had plans to sew when I got home, but I only managed laundry!

Happy Monday!

  4. Good for you heading out anyway! Me? I'd stay at home in my warm bed. Lovely little quilt.

  5. Being out in the cold can be invigorating but exhausting! Dear Elsa, she looks happy. I looked up those odd pillars, seems they were once volcano spouts or chimneys, with lava flow, eons in the past. Imagine the erosion of millennia, really makes us think, about time passing and change.

I am not a morning person on these cold grey days here, but I do love this quilt, especially the rising sun. Your boundless cheeriness is inspiring, thanks you!

  7. Still show. Very brave to go out hiking but Elsa is a good warm blanket. You gave your immune system a good boost. I try to walk every day to ease my mind. Take care.

  8. You are a tough and brave hiker/camper!! It’s beautiful but after hiking through snow I like a soft warm bed.

  9. Rise and Shine...isn't that a Country Threads design? It makes a nice spring time piece.

  12. I love your Rise and Shine quilt very much!
You're very lucky: we're not allowed to go on a trail, just a walk nearby.
But no worries! We're still healthy and that's the most important thing these days.

    Hugs from Belgium!

  14. Not my kind of camping! I'm afraid I'm more the glamping type. My BIL who lives in Prineville (you met his wife) loves the wilderness and every year for his birthday he goes camping alone. He sent us some pictures of the wilderness with no people in it to prove he kept his "social distancing" while he did it! He retired from the forest service so he knows all the back roads, etc. I'm sure Elsa enjoyed it!

  15. What a great place to get away to. But a bit cold? I too, am ready to ease back into a little more diversity in my daily life. I didn't even have any mojo to hand stitch the other night while watching tv. :-(
