Good morning! Please check out my short video on What's a Humble Quilt?
I explain on the video why I'm opting to do this today. Thanks for any constructive input!!
I think it may be better to watch it directly on YouTube.

Got out for a 4 day weekend!! Whoop! Whoop! These overnighters will end soon because of weather.
First up, Obsidian Trail.
Such a surreal place to hike. The Cascade range is a series of volcanoes which are so evident today. We had unexpected rain, but the morning brought this amazing view of the clouds below us.
And this view of the mountains on the other side of us. By the way, I still love America!! The good, the bad and the ugly. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.
Next we drove to a differetn trailhead and headed out early the next morning.
Such a good time to relax and breath lots of fresh air!
Lori, I enjoyed your video. I can’t wait to see more!
ReplyDeleteLori, I enjoyed your video. I can’t wait to see more!
ReplyDeleteyour photos are awesome. So different from the mountains in NY! I hope to travel there someday, trip was cancelled this year.
ReplyDeleteYour video was interesting. I enjoyed it. I used to be a perfectionist but I have decided that a little wonky ness is really added character. I love scrappy quilts the best. I’m doing mini quilts right now with wool applique. They are a more primitive style and so much fun. My stitching on the wool is definitely humble - that’s the charm of it, I think. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Lori, your video was great. I loved seeing your quilts, I strive for perfection but rarely get it and am happy with my work.
ReplyDeleteIt was so nice to watch you as I'm in the UK so am never going to see you in person. I've seen some fabulous videos thanks to the lockdown that I would never have been able to before!!
I just watched your video, and I loved it. It was like getting together with a friend for show and tell. Can't wait to see more!
ReplyDeleteLori, that was great seeing all your quilts. Your speaking was very loud and clear, easy listing!!!Love your hiking photos thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGreat friend, great video!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your video. You come across in your blog as a fun happy person. I think you need to smile more in the video. I enjoy your views from the mountain tops, a place I would love to go. Look forward to what comes next. . .
ReplyDeleteThat was fun and informative. Great video. If I would change anything it would be to get the lighting a bit more even. You've shown me I like humble quilts. You have some awesome nature around you.
ReplyDeleteThe video is wonderful, so great to see and hear you discuss your quilts and philosophy. That oops on the Irish Chain just makes it beyond perfect. I hope you do many more videos, loved it.
ReplyDeletelizzy
I so enjoyed your video ..... more, please!
ReplyDeleteI loved every example of a "humble quilt" that you showed. Throughout the video, I felt like I was at a guile lecture you were giving, and I was engaged. You did seem a little nervous, which is not a criticism but an observation. So, love the visuals and the presentation, and take a breath or two to calm the nerves. We're all friends here, right?
ReplyDeleteI loved this video, thank you. Your philosophy and attitude is brilliant. The first humble quilt you showed, with its flawed cornerstones and everything, looks like is was quilted with great love.
ReplyDeleteYou live in such a special place!
ReplyDeleteI so enjoyed "meeting you in person" on your YouTube video--nice job on this...
ReplyDeleteAnd seeing your "humble" quilts and what you felt makes them "humble" was really fascinating.
Thanks for sharing--I will be looking forward to seeing more videos...
I just loved the Irish Chain whoopsie--just like something I would have done ;)))
hugs, Julierose
Great job, Lori! Much better than I could do. By the time you do 3-4, you’ll be a pro!
ReplyDeleteYou captured some magnificent photos!!
ReplyDeleteLove your video! So much fun seeing your humble quilts. Makes me stop and think about my so so blocks and what I can do with them.😀
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your video. Your hikes look very adventurous.
ReplyDeletei loved your video. refreshing to see the person behind the blog. all of your quilts are lovely. the basket quilt hanging behind you has a lot of humble in the baskets and i adore it. gwen marston influence is readily there in full display. keep making quilts. enjoying your blog so much.
ReplyDeleteThat is so sweet! Thank you!
DeleteI watched your video while I made dinner and it was just so fun. I felt like you were right here or I was right there. I think you started with the perfect quilt to introduce your humble quilts philosophy, and all of your examples were so great to see. You explained your thinking and process/decision making really well. And, the Irish Chain oops is great;).
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your video and "visit." Felt like we'd known each other for a very long time :) Loved your humble quilt examples especially the Irish Chain. It's funny how we glaze over obvious errors in our work. How does that happen??? Great explanation of how the term "humble quilts" defines the quilts you make :)
ReplyDeleteReally enjoyed your video. It connected us to you and your humble quilt philosophy
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your video and would like to see more in the future. I subscribed on YouTube but couldn't comment because it was set for kids. I guess that is something new they are doing. Also, if you were using your phone to video, if you turn it sideways, it should fill the whole screen. Thanks again. By the way, all of my quilts are humble quilts! LOL I have never sent one out for quilting! I do mine from start to finish.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your video and would love to see more of them. Your humble quilts are beautiful, especially the small one with the orphan star block. Although, I don't usually mind seeing "mistakes" in other people's quilts, I can't tolerate them in my own. I am one of those perfectionists who rips everything out if I need to.
ReplyDeleteLori, I enjoyed your video. The quilts are beautiful. You've helped me see my quilts with mistakes in a more positive light, knowing that humble quilts can be loved and enjoyed. You did seem a bit nervous on the video, but hey, it's your first time. As you get more comfortable you'll be great!
ReplyDeleteOh, your pictures are breathtaking! Thanks for sharing them. I noticed your tent was on what looked like pretty rocky ground. I sure hope your sleeping mats are thick & comfy!
ReplyDeleteIt was a wonderful video. It is great to see that embracing imperfection is perfectly okay. I haven't recorded any videos, but I have seem comments in other people's videos which say to set the camera horizontally. You might want to try that to see if that works better for you. I liked seeing the quilt in the background so I don't know if this is good advice or not.
ReplyDeleteanother beautiful hike, the views are awsome, Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteit was fun to see your quilts!
ReplyDeleteZoom is a great platform for giving lectures. I haven't done workshops yet, but we'll see.
Girl, i so love your philosophy! completely understand!
ReplyDeleteAmazing views! Just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAs I recall, I believe the Amish did borders like that too! And some other older quilts as well. I've even been thinking of doing that! Humble is good!
ReplyDeleteIt would be great if you added your email so I could get into contact with you!
DeleteAnd thank you for sharing your quilts. Love the humbleness of them, mine get a bit that way too, and "oh, just leave it!" Proves we are real people and not slave laborers in some foreign country making quilts! I was a founding member of a quilt guild many years ago, but in 2011 left that area and am now very rural. If you choose to show and share here "for practice" I would love it. I miss that!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the video and seeing the quilts. I now know when I have a goof in a quilt it is just humble! I look forward to seeing more videos and the more you do the more relaxed you will be. I think the nerves in this one showed with the scratching you did - just an observation. Just keep doing them; you did better than I ever could!
