Buhl Bushong Update

I got some time this weekend to work on adding the borders to the Buhl Bushong quilt! Yay!!

It was so good to see it again.

Here they are attached before adding on the corners.
Looks like I should have done a bit of editing, but my time is short this morning.
Corner one.

Corner two

Corner 3

Corner 4
I may add the year in applique as well.

And when the corners are completely appliqued on I"ll get a better photo. It is fun to see it hanging on my banister.

I was able to get away for an early morning hike on Monday.

Moraine lake was the destination.
The mountain in the back is South Sisters, very popular to summit at 10,358'. I've summited 2x and always have seen this little lake down below. It is going to a limited permit system next year so I wanted to get here before that.

Sometimes the journey is just as amazing!!

If you have't heard....

The Pacific Northwest is pretty much burning down. We've had days of heavy smoke, but compared to those who have lost everything, it is nothing.
It's sad to hear of the many place I've hiked are now black ash and rubble.

The good news? Forests recover amazingly quick!
Two natural disasters  that I think of this happening- Yellowstone when they used the let it burn concept. (not for man made fires and they did protect structures) and Mt St Helens volcanic eruption.

Be safe, be well friends.

  2. The quilt is stunning! Wow! I just can't imagine how frightening it would be to have those fires anywhere nearby.

  4. Oh, your Buhl Bushong quilt is spectacular! Love the colors and fabrics you've used. It is so sad about all the fires. I know there are more fires in Colorado too as my SIL lives in that state. Hopefully the expected snow will aid in extinguishing them.

    1. Hi Janet, I'm doing raw edge machine applique and am planning on sending this out to be quilted professionally. It's larger than I like to do on my home machine.

  15. Your quilt looks so good, Lori!
That is a hike with beautiful scenery. So glad you are able to get out and enjoy nature.
My daughter in Oregon was camping on Labor Day and they had to evacuate in the middle of the night due to the high winds knocking down trees. They got home at 3:00 a.m. to find the fires within 20 miles, ash falling from the sky like snowflakes, and even inside the house it smells like a campfire.
