I'm sure many of you will remember that I was able to attend the big red and white quilt exhibit in New York City spring of 2011. The quilts were exciting, seeing my quilt friends was exciting, my first time in the big apple was exciting and it was also my first big trip with my daughter. That was exciting and the entire trip was completely memorable.
We did an awesome harbor tour. Such a fun way to see the city and Lady Liberty.
From our rooftop.
We saw amazing quilts at the museums.
And of course, the main event- 700 red and white quilts on display.
I mentioned before that the International Quilt Museum has displayed many of Joanna Rose collection. I considered going to NE and seeing them on display, but have since changed my mind. I saw 700 of them in an amazing display and that is what I'll tuck away in my memory.
BUT the quilt museum has an amazing virtual gallery! Best I've seen online. I would encourage you to check it out, especially if you will not be able to make it to the museum in person. They've done a really spectacular job!
And while you are there see the other antique quilts of the James Collection!
I went to the Museum while I could. Darn Covid kept me away most of the time I was in Omaha. Thanks for the link. I will go see it Virtually.
ReplyDeleteI started following blogs when people were attending and blogging about that show in New York. It boggled my mind! I will definitely check out the link for the museum show. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteJust finished perusing the virtual display and once I caught the hang of how to navigate, I was totally immersed in the experience. Thank you for providing the link, Lori. It was a wonderful display!
DeleteThank you for the virtual link!
ReplyDeleteI missed the first exhibition because of a knee surgery. I was so bummed to not be able to go. Right after my fav Blue & White, it's Red &White for me!
Thanks for sharing the link! Unfortunately I missed the first exhibit and will miss this one as well so the “virtual” exhibit is nice to see. So inspiring!
ReplyDeleteThank-you for sharing the link for the Red & White quilts! So inspiring. I wish I could see it in person. I think I could spend hours just looking at them all!
ReplyDeleteRemember seeing the pictures of that display and it inspired me to make one of my own. I decided to use a variety red 1800's style prints which I collected over a number of years. From a distance they read as solids, but up close it is more interesting!
ReplyDeleteThat quilt is almost to a flimsey.
