Friday Fun- Meet and Greet Winner and Vintage quilts!

I had a lovely lunch date this week and Suzette was kind enough to show me some of her lovely antique and vintage quilts! 

I thought today I'd share a few log cabin quilts. 

 Love the Lancaster blue log centers!!

And this amazing chrome yellow was the only chrome yellow in this quilt. The maker put it directly in the center.

Loved that purple print!!

 The quilt maker fussy cut the fabric with the scallop print. She cut it the same every time she used it.

The backing was pieced and could almost be a strippy top. 

This next one was crib size and the cutest dainty lace around it.

These pieces were small!!

Here's another one with cheddar in the center of each block.

I've only made one large size log cabin and if I make another I'm putting cheddar in my centers!!

Friday fun!

If you are on the Humble Quilts Facebook group you know little quilts are criss crossing the states and the world making there way to their new owner! So much fun!! Just a reminder to please have them in the mail before April 30th.

 And my four 5" finished blocks. My basket handle is a little humble, but in the whole scheme of things it shouldn't be too noticeable.

 And here is a bonus block (5") from Gay that she gave us on National Quilt Day. 

Kim B was so sweet to keep me in mind when she sees cute pillowcases to make dresses! Thank you Kim!! If you are out of the loop I do a mission trip once a year and bring pillowcase dresses for girls.

Gay is back with another Block of the month! This one will be mostly pieced and will last 14 months.

You must go see the quilt and the backing!! It is in her collection and dates late 1800's. 

I had an opportunity to work on month 1 this past weekend. 

I do plan on getting some sashing fabric, but haven't made any decisions on that yet. 

I said mostly pieced because my ribbon block is ready to machine applique! 

It wasn't all smooth sailing......

This was Elsa yesterday- not sure what she was doing or why, but it sure looked funny! As I write this post (Tuesday evening) we are getting more snow. <enter sigh here!>
