Palmateer Point Revisited

In 2017 I had a little quiltalong and I called the quilt Palmateer Point, after an area my husband and I hiked.

I went backpacking this weekend and revisited Palmateer Point with my hiker friends.

 Here is the inspiration quilt! Vintageblessings on ebay comes across some lovely and unique quilts that are for sale. By looking at the back you can see the double line quilting. 

 I thought it was unique enough to want to make a little one. I like to add a tiny twist to the quiltalongs.

 Aren't these prints adorable?!

 You can see the quilting in the original pretty good in this photo. 

I opted to do a diagonal line in the same direction of the pink print.

Palmateer Point Part 4 and Finale

Happy Monday!

Are you ready for the final installment of Palmateer Point?

Let's go!

You will now take 16 of your 4 patches and make 4 blocks like this.

Then using the photos below make these blocks:
(all 4 of them are different, so do not make 4 blocks the same!)

Then lay them out like this photo:

And sew them together!

Ta-Da! Admire your workmanship and little Palmateer Point Quilt! As is, your little quilt should measure about 21" square.

I hope you love it as much as I do! It is so similar to a Jacob's Ladder block, but I love the variation of the 16 patch and the diagonal lines the pink and muslin make. This would make a graphic large quilt too!

Palmateer Point Part 3

Good Monday morning!

Alright, You'll now take your HST and sew them together as shown. Next Monday come back for the final part and we'll get the top together!!

Palmateer Point Quiltalong Part 2

When you choose your two fabrics it is important they have good contrast. I went with pink, which was in the original vintage quilt.

 We need 24 half square triangles that will finish at 3"- so that means these are 3 1/2" unfinished.

Here's the method I like to use. You can use whatever method you like and works for you!

From my 2 fabrics I will cut 3- 8" squares. (3 lights, 3 print)

Draw lines like this. and layer with your other fabric. 

Sew a scant 1/4" on each side of the diagonal lines. Cut on the other two lines. You will get 8 hst from this square! Super simple! Do that with 3 squares.

Press toward the darker fabric and trim to 3 1/2". Admire your work!

Palmateer Point Quiltalong- Part 1

This week we will make some 4 patches out of the 2" squares. It doesn't matter where the darks or lights go. This would make an easy leader/ender to another project. We will make 25 four(4) patches. That's it!

 I will be doing a lecture tomorrow in Sunriver. I'd love to see you if you can make it! Social time starts at 9:30 AM and meeting starts at 10AM at the Sharc.
