Midnight Sewing and Fun on Monday!

I stacked my "Etsy" store on one side of the spare bedroom as my sister and her grandson Zack were coming for a visit. I jokingly told him, "No quilting in the middle of the night!" (Note the bag of fabric rolls in the foreground)

The next morning he came down with these two, one was a conversation print with pencils! What are these? Can I have one? haha I asked my sister later what she thought he would do with it and she replied, "probably make a parachute" He cracked me up!

He loves Elsa.

Some of what I've been up to:

Just finished a fundraiser online auction for Faith Seeds Guatemala. It was a success! These children are worth the effort!

I have a trip on the schedule to take with my daughter and thought I'd better get busy  getting my legs back into hiking shape. (Since the accident we may have to reschedule) :(

I did an 11 miler RT to Demaris Lake, Trailhead near Sisters.

I arrived really early and only saw a 4 people on the trail. It was great.

Went to an outdoor concert in Bend. WOW! Beach Boys were better than I anticipated.

Nights in the high desert cool down. My puffy jacket was overkill, but sometimes you don't know how cold it will be when the sun sets.

Cory, Elsa and I hiked a short overnighter to Upper Twin Lakes on Mount Hood.

We are scheduled to do a longer backpack later this month adn wanted to test Elsa, as her age is catching up with her. She did great.

We made it to another concert and this one was so much fun too!

Friday night before the concert we met the kids for dinner. It was really nice and was good to see Rene laughing and smiling. It was the best I've seen her in 5 weeks. I'm hoping she has turned a corner in her recovery.
I've been making numerous trips into Portland, helping with paperwork, just chilling with her while her partner is away on an extended business. I'll be going back in as this week we meet with a lawyer to see how they may be able to help.

The Humble Quilt quiltalong may be a tad later then usual, but I am at the quilting stage! It is called "Homestead".

Let's all have a terrific week!

Friday Fun!

Well, we made it Rain, A Tribute to the Beatles and enjoyed it immensely!
They went through the songs by time and changed their clothing accordingly.

I have to admit I am a little young to have been a Beatles groupie, but who doesn't like the Beatles? Considering they were together for a short period of time they made a lasting impact on music and society.
2017 was the 50th anniversary of the Beatles album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart Club Band. I am pretty sure one of my older siblings had this record.
They played and sang every song from that album. It was a fun night!

And meanwhile at my house.......

I had a visitor! My sister, her daughter and Zackary (who I haven't seen since he was a baby) came to visit!
Are you noticing a "jail" theme here? LOL
Obviously I'm hanging out with family and not sewing this week.

He is such a happy toddler!
I had to make a quick jaunt into Fabric Depot and can you believe this is all I came out with??? What is even more astounding is that I could not find one sewing machine needle in my sewing room!
My Instagram feed for the week.

If you'd like to weigh in on the topic of hand quilting, AQS has a short survey, You can find it HERE,

Have a wonderful weekend!

More Rain!

Years ago Rain came to Bend and I happened to be out of town so my hubby and son went and loved it! Finally they have come back the Pacific Northwest and we are going! I'll let you know how it was on Friday's blog post.

Sorry if my blog post sounded whiney yesterday, I was a bit bummed, but in the grand scheme of life it is nothing. My heart is full. Thank you all for your kind and encouraging comments.

We Interrupt this Quilting Blog.....

I had big plans to get a lot of projects worked on my quilting studio yesterday. Not much happened quilty yesterday except a little hand quilting in the evening.
As many of you may know, we have a business in our town. A farmer was driving into town today and came across two pups that had been dumped in a ditch out in the country. He caught this little girl but another one had ran away.
She was just a pup and shook all morning. I entertained her in the office.
I posted a few photos on Facebook and instagram trying to find her a home.
I took her for a car ride.

I took her to see my mom.

I let her nap in my jacket.
She liked that the best.

I left her with my husband when I had errands to do. She was comfy there too.
And then her brother showed up. He was bouncing off the walls!
I posted a photo of him too, looking for a forever home.
They were reunited and went crazy!
Then they napped.
We played outside, hoping someone would contact me about wanting a pup in their home.
 Jump, Jump, Jump.
 Jump, Jump. Jump some more!

They were super hungry too. I gave them small amounts of food throughout the day. They both gobbled it so fast.

I'm not sure if this video will work, but its a short clip of how happy they were playing outside.

Before our no-kill shelter closed for the night I said goodbye and handed them over.  They will be spay/neuter, micro-chipped, vaccinated, have 30 days pet health insurance, a free vet visit, and have a personalized ID tag. They didn't think they would have any problem finding a home for them. (she called them cha-weiners, I think. Chiwauwau and wiener dog mix)

So, that was my day in a nut shell. I'm hoping for some quilting time today.

Have a fantastic weekend.

Wonderful Weekend

I had such a fun weekend! I did get a little hand applique done, but didn't have time to take photos and make a post, so I'll show you a few highlights of our weekend. We took our time, saw and experienced some new things.
We camped right near this museum and the quilt block didn't escape my attention.
This photo was taken from our camping spot. The bridge was the start line for the race and to our right was the end. We couldn't have been located any better. Oh yeah, the river? The Columbia- just gorgeous!
So fun to see them fishing in the old "locks" section of the river.

Michelle, friend, quilter, runner came to visit me from Portland. It was so nice relaxing after the race and enjoying the day.
We bought a big Chinook salmon from a Native American.
Sunday morning the SS Legacy was disembarking passengers to tour the Gorge. It was a beautiful ship!

This was also part of Marine Park which was the finish line of my race.
Before heading home we went to the Bonneville dam to see the sturgeon.

And then we were exhausted! lol

If you want to see some race photos head on over HERE.
