Productive Weekend

Over the weekend I managed to get the binding sewn on the Anniversary Quilt. It is 94x88. I'm feeling great that I am at the stage of hand sewing the binding down.

I asked Sharon to quilt in a few words and she asked if she could put in a few more. I love the up close and personal view we get when hand sewing the binding.

I got a little more machine applique done on the bird sampler, Cousin's Walk. Funny, the other night I had a great idea for a different border, but for the life of me I cannot remember what that middle of the night thought was!! LOL

I got all 70 swappers matched up and emailed! The way I do it makes more work, but certainly more unique and fun.

Saturday morning Elsa and I went out for a sunrise hike in the desert.

Mt Jefferson was looking rather stately.

The Deschutes River snaking its way though the valley.

  1. First - that quilt is just wonderful and the words are a perfect little surprise. And 70 swap participates is amazing. Hope everyone has a great time.

  2. I can't wait to see the anniversary quilt in all its glory. I love the idea of the words quilted in.
Maybe in a few more nights you can recall the cool border idea. :)
Got my email about the person to whom I send. Have everything for my little quilt cut and have started making the blocks!
    Gorgeous views from your walk.

  3. Love your cousins walk blocks! Looking forward to the full reveal.

  4. Beautiful quilt and how personalized with the words right into the quilting. I've been wanting to try to do that too but I'm really scared I'll mess things up. Maybe I'll be brave on my next quilt! Ha! Lovely morning walk pictures. Bet Elsa loved it as much as you.

  5. Productive indeed! Love the words in the quilting. And, those Cousins Walk blocks are gorgeous. Hope your idea comes back to you!

  6. What wonderful little surprises to find those words in the quilting. I just love that personal touch! Your hiking photos are gorgeous.

  7. Lori me encanta tu acolchado, tus pájaros son divinos,
El intercambio suena muy divertido, deseando ver tantas maravillas.

  8. The bird images are beautiful. The words are a lovely idea, it makes it so personal.

  9. It really is lovely to see the quilting texture up close and personal when binding a quilt. It's gonna be so cool to see this one finished!!

  10. The perfect combination, fun and beautiful quilting projects and a good hike in a pretty scenery.
