Workshop

Yesterday I taught at a local guild. Wow! Fun and busy!!

They were great students and because it was the first time teaching this class I learned how I can teach it better.

They excelled!

They overcame the challenges of paper piecing.

They learned machine applique!

Or they opted to hand applique

Shirley struggled with the pp concept, but look at her amazing block!

Such petty varieties!

It was springlike outside and inside yesterday!

I think we were all ready for a break! I hope they finish there block and bring it to next week's guild meeting. I look forward to seeing them!

Have a lovely weekend.

Here Comes the Sun Workshop

Most of you  have seen these  blocks. The top two are ones I made recently for a workshop!

Once you have the foundation you can make any circular block and make is spectacular!
My first workshop with this block is next week!

The center block is the pattern we will be making.

With a bit of guidance I was able to make this back in 2017.

And this is the center block of my Cousins Walk quilt. (now completed!)

The class will take place in Redmond, Oregon hosted by High Desert Quilt Guild on February 27th. Send me an email if you are interested. I think there may be room! humblequilts@gmail.com

I received my first shingle vaccine last week and it kind of through me for a loop!
Not excited for shot #2! A week later and I have hives near the injection site. No wonder I'm not excited to get vaccinated! hahaha I hear shingles is pretty terrible, so I weighed my options.

Will be prepping for 2 workshops this week!

I've got dates available if your guild or quilt group would like me to visit. I also do zoom for "trunk shows"  Please pass my name along!
Have a wonderful weekend.

Here Comes the Sun 2

Here is my final finish of the year. This is similar to the previous Sun block.

This one I used machine applique and machine quilting. There is no "right" or "wrong" in quilting.

I'm really thrilled with the outcome.

I wasn't sure which thread to use for the quilting and asked the facebook group. Like usual, I had a variety of responses. These were my choices.

This plum is what I used and it looks good. Thank you for all the suggestions.

This will be a new guild workshop for 2025. If you are interested in hosting me or referring me to your guild I'd love that! I've got openings in 2025 and am also booking into 2026.

Here Comes the Sun:
Making  one block you'll learn a few different techniques that include paper piecing, applique and making the circular block and keeping your points sharp!
We will make one block and you can use it as a medallion or a small quilt.

Have a lovely weekend!

Here Comes the Sun

I started with these.

Paper pieced the arcs...

Reverse appliqueing the outer red.

Hand quilted- complete! YAY! This is a new class for 2025!

We had carolers last night! Hark the Herald!

I was able to bundle up and get out for a local hike this week.

Was great to clear the head and get fresh air!

I hope you have a lovely week of peace and joy.

Wednesday Check in!

Here is one of two projects I'm working on for a workshop sample. The next one will not have as many spikes and will be a more modern version. The lovely focal print is an old one by Michelle Yeo. I will decide today if I bind it in red or yellow. I don't think I have a lot of either one.  The back is a Michelle Yeo print too.

My husband is volunteering with Samaritan's Purse this week in North Carolina. It's almost been 3 months since Hurricane Helene and people are hurting and still needing help. The news has moved on to the next tragedy. If you can give your time or finances I highly recommend Samaritan's Purse non profit.

While hubby is away.....

I bought a tree and got it decorated. (definitely not perfect!)

It has been quite a year! The good, the bad and the ugly! But I'm grateful for every day.

The little red and white quilt above is called Swiss Cross. You can find it in my Etsy store- Digital download HERE or paper pattern HERE.

I hope you are having a great week!
