May Online Class

Used with permission from American Patchwork & Quilting magazine. ©2022 Meredith Operations Corporation. All rights reserved.

Haha, Are you tired of seeing this quilt yet??

Here's a little quilt that is more similar to the antique I was inspired by.

That sashing is wide and chunky and so cute with the baskets.

May 10th I will have an online class and I will walk you through my basket quilt assembly and hopefully you'll want to make a little one for yourself. In order to have the pattern you need to have the June 2022 issue (the most current) of American Patchwork and Quilting.
We will spend a little over an hour doing this and then I have an interview with Jody Sanders, editor of American Patchwork and Quilting, that I will be sharing.

Maybe you have a quilt you'd like to see published- Where do you start? What do you need to know? Will you get paid? How long will they have my quilt?

I learned a lot from Jody and I feel like this can be beneficial if you've ever even wondered how the process works.

If you want to sign up for the Zoom class that will take place on May 10th, 10AM-Noon, please send $10 paypal to Humblequilts@gmail.com (I also take venmo, cash or check- email for my mailing address)

What are you getting for $10?

  • 1 hour quilt basket making with me, including tips and tricks to machine applique and how to make 1/2 blocks and 1/4 blocks. I love them in antique quilts!
  • Interview with Jody, editor of American Patchwork and Quilting
  • A recording will be made and will be good for 1 week after the class for those who cannot make it during the week.

I really think it will be worth your time and money!
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Steppin Out Recapped

We had a great time on the first Humble Quilts Zoom class! The teacher (me!) was the only one that had to use the seam ripper! lol

Jean's quilt
Christy's
Sharon's

HERE is a link to Katy's 2 quilts!

Karen and Wendy were unable to attend the day of the Zoom class but watched it later on video. I would LOVE to see your quilts as well!

2 things:

  •  I didn't think the recorded version was very good. I used the icloud storage that comes with the paid Zoom account. So I apologize to those who watched the recording. Does anyone have any ideas to improve the quality of a recording?
  • I plan on doing a second class using American Patchwork and Quilting magazine basket pattern. You will need to have the magazine if you want to make a quilt from it.   I'd also love to spend some time chatting about how to get a pattern you have designed into a magazine. I'm not an expert but I may get one to help us out on the next class! The date will be determined later this month.
I'm off to New England this week! Stay tuned!

Upcoming Events on Humble Quilts

  • I'll announce the 9th annual little quilt swap soon.

  • Our antique block challenge is due May 30th

  • The historic panel challenge will begin May 31st and we will have an end date of November 31st. That is 6 months for us to get creative and have fun with the panels.
Thank you to many of you who wanted the blue CW General panel. If you emailed and have not heard from me, please try again at humblequilts@gmail.com.

  • The little quilt above is one we will make at my Humble Quilts class I've been mentioning. The original doll quilt is circa1880 made in turkey reds and light shirtings. The entire quilt is faded and looks so soft and sweet. I plan on using my French General fabrics. In a 2 hour class we can have a lot of fun and likely complete our tops!
DATE: Tuesday March 29th  10AM- Noon Pacific Standard time.
COST: $10
Via Zoom
You can Venmo, paypal, send check or cash. Let me know and I'll give you my address or account info to send. As soon as I get payment I will send out the pattern so you can choose fabrics. I plan on sending a photo of the antique quilt as well.

I know many said you don't want a project, well, I will try and alternate projects with a learning experience of some sort. And for those that cannot make it during the week I may try and shoot for a weekend class in addition to the weekday. I won't do it if there isn't interest.
