Virginia Quilt Museum

If you enjoy going to quilt museums and seeing rotating exhibits it is a good idea to support them in any way you can! Going to a museum is a start but if that isn't possible supporting them by helping with a fundraiser is an alternative.

The Virginia Quilt Museum has several ways you can support them.

Purchase a raffle ticket for this reproduction sampler crib quilt. Link HERE

It is based on this antique! XOXO

Join the mini quilt challenge! You can make a little quilt then donate it and the proceeds will go to the museum. Details below. Link HERE

Quilts are due to VQM by July 22, 2023
Quilts will be on display July 25 - September 30, 2023

From the first day of kindergarten to the end of the college years the start of each school year is a time of fun and anticipation. Share your favorite back to school memory, celebrate your alma mater, or simply show off your favorite school supply in this fun mini quilt challenge.

Mini quilts must be 15”x15” and contain a hanging sleeve and label on the back of the quilt. The sleeve must be 3” in diameter. Labels should include the name of the quilter and the title of the piece.

Entry fee is $10 per quilt.

This is 2 simple ways to support the VA Quilt Museum.

I am really excited to go to the Quilt museum in Iowa and Nebraska!

Little of This and That

This is one of my all time favorite Jo Morton poison green prints! A friend generously shared 1 yard with me! Best. Green. Ever!

Do you remember the turkeys? click  HERE and scroll to the bottom  for a refresher.

Too darn cute! Thank you Laurie for the sweet turkey/VA quilt museum pin cushion! I love it!

So long November, you've been a good month this year.

Virginia Quilt Museum & More

Medallions was an exhibit that the VA Quilt Museum had on display. Here's a couple of the very old ones.

Someone asked me to take photos of their quilts in the museum, but when you comment as anonymous, I have no way of knowing who you are. I responded on the comment, but didn't hear back from you before I left. I'm sorry!

We saw several trucks full of turkeys!
I found some of this fabric at Patchwork Plus and now Laurie and I have a challenge!

Historic Staunton
We had a lot of fun in this town.

We made our way to a local brewery- we were glad they didn't have food, because we saw a mouse scurry across the floor!

And Ciders from Mars (No mice that we saw- only Good Vibes)

My days of the week are all messed up, but here we are again at the first of the week.

I'll be in Houston Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. Thursday I am taking the machine quilting forum. If you see me be sure to say HI! I know I'll be there a bit earlier than many of you but I really love to see the quilts without the larger Saturday crowds. Send me an email if you want! humblequilts@gmail.com
I hope to see several of you!

VA Quilt Museum

I finally have seen a few photos from the Virginia Quilt Museum!

Yvonne has a quilt on display and this one on the right is mine! So excited to see it here but will be seeing it in person (obviously the entire exhibit) next week! I believe we will be at the museum on the 20th or 21st. Feel free to email me humblequilts@gmail.com if you will be nearby!

Here is Yvonne's entire post HERE. Please take a look!

VA Quilt Museum and A Garden of Hope Exhibit

The Virginia Quilt Museum will have a special exhibit of Buhl Bushong quilts  from September 21-December 23. It is called
"A Garden of Hope"
I found out this week my quilt was accepted to be included!

I'd love to be able to attend the reception but I have a prior commitment. Hopefully I'll be able to go at some point while the quilts are hanging.

My quilt is entirely machine appliqued.

Sharon Tucker did an amazing job on the quilting!

I have to get busy and add a hanging sleeve!

I hope you are having a great week!
