Welcome February!

The retreat friends were asking me how many blocks I am making. These are 16" blocks so I won't need to make a lot of them. I thought I better play with some settings.

This is my first thought
67"x90"
Side by side with sashing to give them room to breathe.
60"x85"

85"x85"

Here is the look side by side no sashing. 72"x72"

I feel like I know which way I'm leaning but would love to hear any input or alternate ideas.

On another note, I was donated some books and would love to find them a home!

These books were donated to me and all proceeds will go to Faith Seeds, the non profit in Guatemala that I am on the board.

$10 each plus postage ( shipping most inexpensive way possible)
Or make me an offer!
Everything Flowers, Jean and Valerie Wells, 96 pages, 1996
Patchwork Showcase, Nancy Mahoney, 95 pages, 2004
Expressive Quilts , Kumiko Sudo, 95 pages, 1989

Through the Garden Gate, Jean and Valerie Wells, (signed by both authors) 144 pages, 1999

Friday Fun!

This post is all over the place!

I did a Youtube video on the dresses- I have 148 of them! Whoop! Whoop! I may not bring them all on this trip as Peru is on the schedule and will bring some there.  Thank you all so much for your generosity!
Thank you for purchasing books! I have more and will keep the link on my blog sidebar. Check them out HERE if you missed it the first time.
Someone mentioned local people in need. I do see that and am currently volunteering for a non profit in my town. I feel like with inflation people will be needing even more help in the coming months. Maybe you aren't affected by it, but we sure see it in my small town. Thankfully there are some great resources available. I recently told my BIL and son to not donate men's clothes to the thrift store but to give them to me!
I am registered to make a quick trip to Houston for the show! Let me know if you will be there! I may extend my trip by one day so I can see more people.

Last weekend we got away to Mt Hood.  Our plans changed a little, but we like to be flexible.

This was our view from the first night. This is Burnt Lake with Mt Hood in the background. The alpenglow was picture perfect!

a reddish glow seen near sunset or sunrise on the summits of mountains.

I have this beautiful quilt that is in 2 halves because the center had been folded too long.
Isn't is spectacular?!

So much to love about this quilt.
This is about the only fall decorating I've done. maybe this weekend I'll do more. I'm trying to extend summer as much as I can. The weather sure is fall-like.

Have an amazing weekend friends!

Final Fundraiser Book Sale

SORRY! The link to the books should be ready  now!

You all are so awesome! I hope you completely enjoy the books you have purchased from me. Our mission trip is fully funded so I have 2 projects I'd like this fundraiser to go for.

First off we will be doing a water well project for a village that either has no water, no clean water, or broken water.

I love that we can make a difference! This was the village we provided a water well to in Peru.

It's a real celebration when we get to turn on the tap! Because this village had water they could also receive funds from the government for the school. (we helped build that too! With pallets!!)

The other charity is Faith Seeds Guatemala.

I met Gaby briefly in Guatemala, then she was my translator for MSI and we worked together on subsequent mission trips.

Our mission is to break the cycle of poverty by providing education, nutritional support & other services to the children of Guatemala.
. Please read more about her mission HERE. We chat regularly and they are in need of school supplies and uniforms, transportation, food, etc.

So now that you know what I am fundraising for, here are the books! Thank you Margaret for the donation and Laurie, for telling her about my mission trip.

I realized I have SO many books I made a link HERE! Please send an email to Humblequilts@gmail.com with your book(s) request and your mailing address so I can figure out shipping charges. I will mail the most economical way.

I accept paypal and venmo- I do not invoice. Humblequilts@gmail,com

I also take cash and checks.

I will remove the books as they sell.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Book Sale Fundraiser

If you have been following me for any length of time you know I usually have a book sale to raise money for my yearly mission trip. Last years trip to Dominican republic was canceled and I believe it is rescheduled for early 2022.

The books are piling up in my sewing room so I thought I'd have a sale for another charity that is close to my heart.

If you are looking for a particular issue, please let me know. I may have it! I'm not sure if I should donate these or not. Is there any desire to purchase them? Let me know!

The ministry I'm donating to is called Faith Seeds Guatemala.
My friend, Gaby, started this ministry working with families, especially children, who work in the dump to make a living. These kids don't get an opportunity to attend school because they do not have the finances for uniforms, books, etc.  In order to get them out of poverty Gaby realizes they must attend school. Click the link above to find out more.

This past year has been especially hard.

No matter the hardships they are so grateful and joyful people.

Less than 1% of the Guatemalan population is fully vaccinated against Covid. I'm sure the poorest of poor will be the last to receive any vaccination.

Here is Gaby and I in Bolivia where she served as a translator for our team.

Since I'm nursing my ankle I'll be home getting books ready for Monday! Please check back then.

Have a wonderful weekend!
