Little Quilt Giveaway!

But first....

I haven't sewn a stitch this week! It was only a 4 day week, but to add to that my hubby had cataract surgery, so I was the designated driver.  All went well- so far. He only had his surgery yesterday.

I made my first trip to Costco, which is less than a mile from the surgery center. They've got it working like a well oiled machine, don't they? They were one of the first businesses in Central Oregon to require masks and because of the amount of people, it really is impossible to stay 6 feet away from people while shopping. Because everyone is wearing a mask it is a level field. Nobody judging for wearing a mask, or not wearing a mask. We need to offer grace to each other. We have no clue what another person is going through.

Now for a couple of funnies:
I was prepared with an organized list. Haha, can you tell it has been awhile since I've been out of town!!??

I completely stocked up on my regular items. I don't want to go back anytime soon! I've always been pretty good at cooking meals at home, but I think we've only gotten take out 3x.

After hubby's surgery he wanted lunch and a beer. It was our first time eating out together since restaurants have opened up on a limited schedule and spacing.

So that's my exciting world this week.

Ready for an amazing giveaway?!

I admit I was disappointed when Lizzy, Gone to the Beach, said she would not be able to participate in the Humble Quilt swap this year.  I told her I wanted me to be her partner. (I don't  generally beat around the bush much!) She told me she had 2 quilts she would send me. I could keep both or do a giveaway on my blog.
I thought this virus was going to be 2 weeks in, then done. I told her, yeah, maybe when we are through this quarantine I'll have a giveaway!
Well, we are still under quarantine, but life is slowly adjusting out of complete lockdown.

ITS TIME FOR A GIVEaWAY!

I looked for my email about this quilt and couldn't find it. Lizzy, correct me if I'm wrong. Antique blocks and fabric, put together by Lizzy, machine quilted by her quilter with terrific fans, This quilt has not been washed as the red likely will not be stable. It is charming as ever!
Here's the gorgeous backing!!

Thank you Lizzy for your generosity.
Please go give her some bloggy love HERE

Please leave a comment and if you aren't sure if you are a no reply blogger or not, please leave your email address so I can contact you.  I'll draw next Friday.

Sewing is on my weekend agenda!!

Kickoff to Summer

I had a few hours at home yesterday and made the quilt transition to summer/patriotic.
I know you all see these every year, so feel free to skip. But for any new readers here's my
"I love America house"

This is my eclipse quilt but reminds me of fireworks too.
It was really bright when I was snapping photos so these aren't the best.

The guest room....waiting for a guest!

Another spare bed.

This was a round robin with friends. It is pretty special to me.
The little quilt made by a friend.

We had plans to go a short ways from home for Memorial weekend. We NEVER travel on busy weekends, but we thought it may not be that busy since people are supposed to be staying close to home. Yea, right!  Traffic started on Wednesday and by Friday it was crazy. We changed our minds a few times and finally we talked to a customer and they let us camp on private property about 1 hour from home- in the desert.
Here is an old sheep shed.

Hopefully this video will work. We were camped near the John Day River. Spring time causes it to be a bit muddy, but we weren't swimming anyway. It was nice to hear the river at night. We really had a relaxing time.

And because we had both dogs they weren't at home protecting the property from hungry deer. Our poor newly planted apple tree was almost nibbled to death.

I hope ya'll are doing well. I feel like life is looking up!

Much love

Fun on a Friday!

I've only got a little sewing done this week so I thought I'd share a few fun things happening around the web

First, my friend Diane is selling some of her amazing quilts! Check it out HERE.  They are priced to sell!

Jean Wells who started The Stitchin' Post in Sisters Oregon has been quilting for many years. Her latest are art quilts. Although that isn't my forte, she is super talented and I am happy to see they are offering classes online with Jean! Here's the first one- HERE.  Dreaming in Color.
With so many quilt shows cancelled and the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show being one of them, maybe we'll see more lectures via zoom. Not the best but a good alternative. Check out their website HERE for more online classes with Jean.

Gay Bomers of Sentimental Stitches is super talented and puts out some amazing and accurate patterns. She's starting a new one called 3030 Quilt. Get the details HERE

Last year we did the Humble Quilts Stringalong. I love both of the quilts I made! Although they are super fun to make, I get bored....
My friend Sharon is sharing some string quilts and techniques.
This is her graphic zig zag string quilt and then HERE for a tutorial!

And I've got a few tutorials at Pinterest. Check them out HERE

Work has been busier than ever which means I am falling behind on responding to emails and even my blog reading and commenting. Forgive me now, okay?

I had my yearly mammogram done this week. If your appointment was missed because of closures, please take this time to reschedule. You are important! After my appointment I made a package delivery to my son and we went out to lunch!! First time dining in for many weeks. It was nice.

One more note, I've gained weight and am not excited to go to my regular yearly appointment!! Can anybody else relate? Please let me know I'm not alone in this!!

Much love!

I should be Trekking in the Andes right Now!

If all had stayed on the straight and narrow I'd be in the Andes hiking with my daughter reveling in the views and likely having a hard time breathing because of the altitude! LOL

Instead I'm hanging out in my hometown staying healthy. My birthday was all things Peru.

My kids are fun and funny!

Sometimes my world gets a bit topsy turvy and I have a hard time finding balance.
Elsa and I went out backpacking. The fresh air and exercise brought  me back to center.

And then the coolest things happened.
I came home from my yearly mammogram (wow, something normal happening in Oregon!) to find this box on my porch!

Oh yes, I was very curious! See my shoes? Birthday present from my hubby.

Bada bing! Bada Bing! Thank you to a dear friend! You totally brightened my day and week!
You are so special!!

I'm glad we are heading toward "normal". I went out to lunch with my son today and it was great!

And for a daily funny:

Thank you all for your positive and encouraging comments. If you haven't seen the terrific links on the last post, please go visit! Little quilts are still being added.

Much love

2020 Humble Quilts Exchange- Linky Party

My little quilt made it on the slow boat from Australia!! Whoop! Whoop!
Marian was my partner and I always enjoy her quilts and thoughtfulness.
She had saved a photo of a make-do antique and she knew I would appreciate and love it! And she was right! Thank you Marian!!

I love this awesome toile. It seems like it is getting harder to find.

A little label written directly on the back of the quilt.

We will show the quilt we RECEIVED. If you do not have a blog but the person who made your quilt does, they can post a link to their blog post showing your quilt. (Feel free to make 2 separate blog posts showing both quilts)
You can also share from Instagram now.
You can also share from your desktop!

When adding your link please link up the specific blog post, not just your blog. If you need help let me know. I also know many of you are still waiting for your quilt. The linky will be open most of the month so we can get them all here. I really love seeing them all in one place!

Fun on a Friday!

Welcome to the many new readers and Facebook group members! Happy to have you along.

Several of you are looking for patterns I've done as quiltalongs. It started with this one above and eventually became a yearly fall event.

If you are interested in seeing the small quilts we've done as group quiltalongs follow this pinterest link- HERE.

Once you have the name of the quilt you'd like to see more of go to my blog HERE and ...
In the upper left there is a search box. Type in the name of the quilt. If you do not see the search box on your device, try scrolling to the bottom and clicking on "web version" , then look again. I hope this is helpful!
If all else fails go to Google and use that search engine with the name of the quilt, followed by Humble Quilts.
Janet was very thoughtful and remembered me with a birthday care package. Thank you!!
I have to say, I've struggled with a variety of masks, so am thrilled to have this one with elastic.
I appreciate you all so very much.

And not quilt related:
On my birthday this week my kids and I had a zoom meeting.  It was the day before our planned trip to Peru, so appropriately they called from Machu Picchu! LOL

Then when they trekked back down they came to visit! It was awesome!
Because she is in the city her salon will not be opening for a few weeks, but she brought her goods on the go! I shared this photo yesterday in the facebook group.
Someone asked for an "after" photo. Here ya go! I know many of you will be heading to your salons soon. Be kind, they are making them jump through many hoops to get back in business.

Have a really terrific weekend!
Much love

Anniversary Quilt 2020 Month 2

It's been a bit over a month, and although many have set this quilt aside for now, I'm plugging along. Still only one block sewn, but more blocks ready, including this one!

Bet you could hardly tell the backing was 6 pieces!! Yep! It's how I roll.

Sometimes how I roll works, and sometimes it doesn't. I have no idea at all how this piece got so small!! I did a do-over on this piece.

Anybody else want to share your Anniversary quilt section? I'd love to add what you've got done to the blog post.

Hubby and I escaped for a quick overnight backpacking trip to the desert.
I was super excited to see these hedgehog cactus in bloom!
A newly discovered species of hedgehog cactus (Pediocactus sp. nov.) grows only in Harney and Wheeler Counties.

There were many other flowers blooming too, but not as special as this one.

It was so warm we didn't have to have the fly on the tent. It was fun to see the stars.

I know many of you think Oregon rains a lot. It's a myth!!

We climbed a butte next to our camp site and watched the sun set.

So nice to get away and not hear the news, wear a mask, or worry about a virus.

Love to you all. Let's make it a good week!
